“Nag-mayor na 'ko before, eh. Siguro, okay na 'yun. But seriously, for me, personally kong opinyon, sa 'kin lang 'to, honestly, I don't think I'm qualified,” RK said.

He then discussed the significant differences between working as an actor and serving in public office. According to him, mistakes in acting can sometimes be corrected by doing another take, but the same approach cannot be applied to political leadership, where decisions can directly affect people's lives and futures.

“In politics, I don't think pwede ang take two. 'Pag nagkamali ka, lives are at stake, kinabukasan ng mga tao ang nakasalalay, too much consequences. I'd rather be a faithful storyteller na lang sa mga shows rather than an incompetent leader,” he explained.

RK's remarks highlighted his personal assessment of the responsibilities that come with public service. Rather than pursuing a position he feels unqualified for, he would rather continue working as an actor and telling stories through television and other entertainment projects.

The actor also clarified that his family is not pressuring him to enter politics. He said the decision to pursue a different career path remains his own, emphasizing his preference for acting over public office.

“I leave it up to them, dito ako sa acting,” he added.

RK comes from a family with a political background. His brother, Raymond Bagatsing, ran for vice mayor of Manila in 2022 but did not win. Raymond returned to the political arena in 2025, this time seeking the city's mayoralty, but was again unsuccessful.

Their grandfather, Ramon D. Bagatsing Sr., also had a notable career in public service. He previously served as mayor of Manila and represented the city in Congress for three terms before becoming known for his leadership in local government.

Despite these family connections, RK has made it clear that he does not feel obligated to follow the same path. For him, recognizing his own limitations and choosing a profession where he believes he can contribute meaningfully are more important than pursuing a political career simply because of his family's history.

RK Bagatsing is a Filipino film and television actor who gained widespread recognition for his breakthrough role as Mayor Arnaldo Ardiente Torillo in the ABS-CBN drama series Wildflower. He has since established himself as a versatile actor through various acclaimed projects across television and independent cinema, including Apocalypse Child and Cuddle Weather.
