The journalist marked her return by sharing a selfie from the newsroom on Instagram, giving followers a glimpse of her first day back after spending time away from her usual work routine.
Gonzales candidly admitted that she intentionally disconnected from the news while adjusting to life as a new mother.
"To be very honest, I stopped watching and reading the news since giving birth," she wrote.

She explained that her break was so complete that she was no longer keeping track of several major developments that would normally be part of her everyday life as a journalist.
"As in hindi ko alam kung anong nangyayari sa impeachment, magkano na ang gas, o ilang insidente na ng school shooting ang nangyari ngayong taon," she shared.
Her admission highlighted just how much she allowed herself to step away from the demands of the news industry while enjoying time with her newborn.
Gonzales has spent nearly 15 years working in the news industry, making her decision to take a break a notable change from the fast-paced routine she has become accustomed to.
Despite being away from work, she looked back on the experience positively and described the time she spent focusing on motherhood as a meaningful pause.
"But all good things come to an end (including my baby bubble) so we are back!!!" she concluded.
Her return comes as she transitions from the quiet routine of caring for her baby back into the demands of reporting and documentarian work.
For Gonzales, the break offered an unusual opportunity to temporarily tune out the headlines she normally follows closely. Her return to the newsroom now marks the end of that personal pause and the beginning of another chapter in her career—this time while navigating work alongside motherhood.
Mav Gonzales is a Filipino broadcast journalist, news anchor, and reporter for GMA Integrated News. She is recognized for her work across various news and public affairs programs for the network, including serving as a senior news correspondent and host.
In another report, GMA News reporter Mav Gonzales opened up about the difficult adjustment she faced as she entered a new chapter in her life. After 15 years of intense field reporting, she described the sudden shift to spending most of her time at home and dealing with a quieter routine as surreal. Mav, who has long viewed herself as a strong woman, admitted that the exhaustion brought her to moments when she would break down while trying to cope with the changes. She also encouraged people to check in on women who may be quietly struggling as they navigate similarly overwhelming transitions.
Meanwhile, Mav Gonzales detailed the hospital expenses she incurred when she gave birth to her youngest child, Maya, at Makati Medical Center in May 2026. The GMA-7 reporter broke down the costs covering her birthing suite, delivery, blood transfusion, hospital stay, her baby’s expenses, and the professional fees of her medical team. Her bill initially amounted to ₱728,160.26 before PhilHealth deductions, bringing the final amount to ₱694,040.76. Mav jokingly reacted to the substantial expense by saying she was “starting a GoFundMe.”
