Shuvee Etrata recently opened up about one of the hardest lessons she has learned about love, sharing how her experiences shaped the way she understands relationships and affection.

In an interview shared by Barangay Love Stories TV, the Sparkle actress emphasized that love begins with learning how to appreciate and care for yourself. For Shuvee, understanding self-love is essential before a person can fully give love to others.
"It's hard to love when you don't know how to love," she said.
She further explained that this principle applies not only to romantic relationships but also to friendships and family connections.

"I feel like, for you to be able to go into a relationship, friendship, family, or whatnot, I feel like it's really important to love yourself first," she explained.
Shuvee also described love as something “crucial” in her life, particularly because she considers it the foundation of meaningful relationships. She pointed out that giving affection can be difficult when a person has not learned how to recognize or feel it within themselves.
"'Yung love kasi, foundation siya. Mahirap siya ibigay kung hindi mo alam paano siya ibigay or hindi mo nararamdaman siya sa sarili mo. So, very crucial 'yung love para sa akin," she shared.
The actress also admitted that expressing love has not always come naturally to her. She attributed some of that difficulty to growing up with tough love, an experience that influenced how she viewed affection and relationships.
Despite this, Shuvee said she has gradually learned to approach love differently. Rather than allowing her past experiences to prevent her from showing affection, she now chooses to give love freely and share it with the people around her.
"Natutunan ko ngayon na magbigay lang. Magmahal lang. Spread love where you go. And eventually, it's going to return," she said.
Her reflection highlights a shift in how she approaches love: instead of focusing only on receiving it, Shuvee has learned to value self-love and consciously extend kindness and affection to others.
