Sophia Laforteza has assured fans that she is taking steps to care for herself as she continues her hiatus from Katseye and sits out the group’s upcoming European and UK tour dates.

The Filipina singer addressed Eyekons through an Instagram Story on Monday, Aug. 31, sharing that while she deeply wanted to join her fellow members on the road, she needed to prioritize her well-being.

“I can’t express enough how much I want to participate in this tour and perform for you all,” she said.

“I have to remind myself every day that our health and mental well-being should always be prioritized. When I show up for you, I want you to get the best version of me.”

Sophia had announced earlier this month that she would be taking a hiatus from Katseye. Her latest update gave fans more insight into how she has been spending her time away from performances.

The singer revealed that she has been undergoing treatment while making an effort to maintain her health and find ways to stay positive during her break.

“I’ve been in ongoing treatment and doing everything I can to stay healthy, occupied, and happy. You can’t pour from an empty cup. It’s important to care for yourself,” she said.

Her decision means she will miss Katseye’s upcoming European and UK tour dates, but Sophia made it clear that she remains supportive of the group and excited to see her members continue performing.

She also expressed gratitude to HYBE, Geffen Records, her fellow Katseye members and the people around her for standing by her as she focuses on getting better.

Despite being away from the stage, Sophia continues to keep up with Katseye’s performances and praised her fellow members for their work.

“I can’t wait until I return and share the stage with my sisters again. They’re gonna put on an extraordinary performance for you, EYEKONS. Trust me, I’ve been watching, and they’re absolutely giving!” she expressed.

Sophia ended her message by thanking her fans for their patience and understanding, while reassuring them that she hopes to see them again soon.

“See you soon, EYEKONS. I love you all so much. Thank you for understanding,” concluded Laforteza.
