The world mourns the loss of one of music and pop culture’s most beloved figures as global icon, singer-songwriter, and humanitarian Dolly Parton passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 80.
The announcement was confirmed by her family through a heartfelt video statement delivered by her nephew, Bryan Seaver, on behalf of the Parton and Owens families.

"Hey everyone, my name is Bryan Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I am representing the Parton and Owens family today, announcing the passing of my Aunt Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean. Sister, sis, Aunt Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next," Bryan shared.
Bryan revealed that Dolly had personally asked him years ago to deliver the news when the time came.

"It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by Carl, her parents, and countless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet them in the heavens."
Following the video, an official tribute was shared across Dolly's social media channels @dollyparton alongside a timeless black-and-white portrait bearing the words "I will always love you."
"A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience," the statement read.
Dolly is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away in 2025.
At Dolly’s personal request, an intimate, private memorial service will be held strictly for immediate family.
