Kuan, who recently resigned as Alonzo’s talent manager, addressed the issue while speaking with members of the showbiz press on Monday, August 24. She maintained that she had always been supportive of Vincent and his relationship with Alonzo.

“You know, from the very start, you can ask people, I was praising Vincent. I said nothing bad about him,” Kuan said.

“I take it as it is. I like you because you love Bea, you make Bea happy,” she explained.

Rather than interfere with Alonzo’s romance, Kuan said she wanted to give the actress enough time to focus on her personal life. She even encouraged Alonzo to settle down and start a family.

“I was giving her time kasi, of course, she needs to develop her relationship,” Kuan said.
“Kasi gusto ko talaga she settles down na and I keep telling her, ‘Sana magka-anak ka na. I need you to settle down,’ ganyan. That’s what she also wants.”
“So I was happy for her, and I was gonna make it really easy for her, an easy process and an easy journey,” she added.

Kuan further revealed that she had volunteered to speak with GMA 7 about ending Alonzo’s contract early so the actress could devote more time to her personal life. According to Kuan, she was even willing to help ensure that Alonzo would not face a penalty.

“In fact, nung alam kong nagkakaigihan na sila (Bea at Vincent), and all that, meron pa kaming obligasyon sa GMA. I even volunteered. ‘Bea, gusto mo pang mag-taping?’ I even volunteered.”
“I want her to have more time for her personal life. So ako, ang sabi ko, ‘Gusto mo, kaya ko naman kausapin ang GMA to pre-terminate your contract and I’ll make sure that walang penalty.’ May paraan naman, e. Hindi siya pumayag because she wants to earn income.”
“Ako, nag-volunteer ako. All for her, for her happiness, everything yun. Hindi ko kine-kwestyon ‘yung mga schedule, I never do that. Basta yung schedule lang namin, MWF ‘yung taping, mga ganon, shooting for endorsement, yun lang,” she explained.

Kuan also said she deliberately kept her distance from Alonzo’s personal affairs to avoid becoming involved in matters that could later be reported in the media.

“Ni-hindi nga kami ka-chika, lumayo nga ako e. I don’t want to know any of her stories because kapag may lumabas na naman sa media, ako na naman ang may kasalanan.”
“So I really kept my distance. I’m not even calling her, ‘Uy, ano’ng chika? Ano ng balita sa inyong dalawa? Nagkakaigihan na kayo.’ Never, I never did that,” she added.

She also directly addressed the allegation that she was responsible for the supposed cancellation of Alonzo and Vincent’s wedding.

“Bakit ko ipapa-cancel? Ninang ako. Nagpagawa ako ng gown. Nag-effort ako. And at that time, kasagsagan ng Middle East war… ayaw kong dumaan ng layover sa Dubai.”
“And at that time, the plane fare was so high. Kung ayaw kong matuloy ang kasal, bakit ako gagastos? Plane fare alone and hotel is almost P700,000,” Kuan revealed.
“So, logic tells you, gusto ko ‘yung kasal,” she concluded.

Through her statements, Kuan made it clear that she considered Alonzo’s happiness a priority and rejected the narrative that she had opposed the actress’s relationship or marriage plans with Vincent.

Bea Alonzo (born Phylbert Angelli Ranollo Fagestrom) is an acclaimed Filipina actress, model, and internet personality. Renowned as one of Philippine cinema's highest-grossing box office stars, she gained widespread fame for her iconic role as Basha in One More Chance and her long-running screen partnership with John Lloyd Cruz.

In another report, veteran talent manager Shirley Kuan strongly denied allegations that she received a commission connected to a high-profile prenuptial agreement. Shirley clarified that she never had access to the prenup and did not see any portion of the document, emphasizing that she had no involvement in the legal arrangements.
