When playfully asked if she was praying for a new partner, Cherry Pie laughed and reflected on her previous relationship.
"Lumabas naman na ito, e, ‘di ba sabi ko dati ‘yung kay Edu answered prayer? Kasi ano pang hahanapin mo, ang gwapo, matipuno, maayos, edukado, napakabait na tao sabi ko nga answered prayer but I think God has other plans."
Playfully bargaining with destiny, she quipped, "Kaya sabi ko (ngayon), ‘God pwedeng take 2?’"
Addressing what exactly went wrong with her seemingly perfect relationship, she simply and peacefully stated, "Hindi siguro meant."
While she claims finding a partner is not her top priority, she amusingly admitted to sending subtle hints to the heavens.
"Pero ngayon, honestly I don’t really pray for a partner hindi siya talaga priority pero ngayon medyo na nasisingit-singit ko... ‘Lord medyo napapagod na akong mag-isa ha, ha, ha," she confessed with her signature infectious laughter.
When asked if her former partner ever proposed, the brilliant actress revealed a surprising detail. "We talked about it," she shared.
However, because she had never been married, she asked for more time. Today, she harbors absolutely no bitterness, noting that Edu is now very happy with his current girlfriend, tech CEO Ann Cuisia, and that she is genuinely happy for him too.
Looking forward, the 56-year-old star has established clear, non-negotiable boundaries for her next relationship.
She explicitly prefers an older gentleman who can still travel and enjoy life alongside her. "I mean ngayon at my age parang ang gusto ko na lang ‘yung kayo lang dalawa na enjoy kayo, tatawa kayo, magkukulitan kayo, you can talk kahit kayo lang dalawa without anybody," she deeply explained.
She firmly ruled out dating younger men because of the possibility they might want children, which she can no longer provide, and their potentially restless nature.
Despite her friend's strong suggestion to try modern dating apps, the self-proclaimed conservative Filipina remains hesitant.
"Talaga, medyo conservative pa ako... gusto ko pa rin Pilipino kasi I think because of the culture, sensibility lalo na sa family," she firmly noted.
While currently resting and waiting for her upcoming Kapamilya network teleserye, she is happily taking her time, trusting the universe, and constantly "manifesting" her perfect match.
Active since the late 1980s, Cherry Pie Picache is a versatile Filipina actress celebrated for her award-winning roles in hits like "Tanging Yaman" and "On the Wings of Love." Beyond her stellar film and television career, she is profoundly admired for her inspiring resilience, famously choosing the difficult path of forgiveness after the tragic 2014 passing of her beloved mother.
Last year, the seasoned actress confessed that her romantic involvement with Edu Manzano only blossomed because of his relentless pursuit after many years of being strictly friends. Speaking openly during an intimate sit-down conversation with broadcaster Karen Davila, she affectionately recalled their brief two-year relationship as a truly wonderful experience. To properly heal and adjust from the painful separation, she honestly admitted that they went through a silent period, successfully avoiding communication for roughly two years post-breakup. Fortunately, an unexpected run-in recently resulted in a warm and comforting exchange, proving that their deep, amicable connection remains wonderfully intact today despite the split.
Around the same time, the veteran star confidently shared that she remains highly receptive to the beautiful possibility of finding new love. Even though her high-profile romantic chapter with fellow actor Edu Manzano concluded quite some time ago, the two proudly maintain a highly respectful and cordial dynamic. The former couple recently crossed paths while attending an exclusive industry gathering, happily exchanging pleasantries without any hint of lingering awkwardness or tension. On the professional front, the busy actress is actively preparing to star in an upcoming cinematic project titled The Last BeerGin, acting alongside prominent talents like JC Santos, Pepe Herrera, Xyriel Manabat, and Zaijian Jaranilla.
