The 25-year-old artist, who is the eldest daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta, plays the wife of Edgar “Edjop” Jopson, one of the most influential youth organizers during the 1970s. The film follows Jopson’s life and his involvement in the youth movement during a significant period in Philippine history.

Unlike the seemingly natural route of entering showbiz through her famous family, Kakie initially pursued a different path. She moved to New York, where she studied literature and anthropology and eventually graduated in 2025. Since then, she has been concentrating on her musical career before taking on her first major acting project.

“My Kakie’s first movie!!! Hope you can all support it. Thank you!💖💖💖🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌸🌸🌸”

The film is directed by Katski Flores and co-written by Jade Castro. Beyond its theatrical release, the production team is also taking an unconventional approach to promoting the movie through the EDJOP Campus Conversations tour.

The initiative will bring members of the cast and creative team directly to university campuses for 90- to 120-minute discussions about the film, its historical context, filmmaking process, and the continuing relevance of Jopson’s story to young Filipinos today.

The team explained the decision to take the film directly to students rather than relying solely on conventional promotional events.

“Matagal naming inisip pano ba namin ipo-promote ang EDJOP?”

The campaign will include the usual premiere nights, press conferences, and previews, but the filmmakers wanted to reach audiences beyond the entertainment industry.

“Pero paano namin ito ilalabas ng mas malawak sa mundo ng pelikula/ entertainment?”

The organizers drew inspiration from Jopson’s own approach to communicating with people and bringing his message directly to different sectors of society.

“Kaya didirecho na rin kami sa inyo, dear Kabataan. Galawang Edjop.”

The campus tour is designed to create an open environment where students can learn more about Jopson’s life while also sharing their own thoughts and perspectives.

“Kayo ang number one inspiration ng pelikulang ito.”

The team also emphasized the importance of hope, particularly among young people, while encouraging students to participate in the conversations.

“Feeling namin, pag-asa ang isa sa mga pinaka-kailangan natin ngayon.”

As of writing, seven universities have already been confirmed as host sites for the Edjop Campus Conversations Tour, with Southwestern University-Phinma in Cebu serving as the starting point.

Flores, who is also spearheading the grassroots-inspired promotional campaign, said the response following the announcement has been overwhelming. The team is now receiving requests from other schools and is working to accommodate as many campus stops as possible.

Universities and student organizations interested in hosting a stop may inquire through info@edjopthemovie.com.
