The former radio DJ, Pinoy Big Brother housemate, events host, and vlogger shared her latest life update in a Facebook post on August 10, recounting how her past continued to affect her career even after she had regained her freedom.

Karen revealed that several major companies initially hired her for projects but later removed her after discovering that she had been imprisoned.

“There were times I’d be taken out the day before big events… it was devastating,” she wrote.

She said the experience was particularly painful because she had already spent five years of her life behind bars over what she described as a made-up case, only to be acquitted in 2021.

Karen explained that she initially believed she had already proven herself after returning to work and joining Pinoy Big Brother. However, she said some companies continued to judge her based on her past rather than her work and character.

“There was even a time I did a commercial already only to be told that it won’t air anymore,” she shared.

The actress and advocate for Persons Deprived of Liberty said these experiences became some of her biggest professional heartbreaks. Despite feeling hurt by the treatment she received, she chose not to publicly complain about the companies involved.

“Dami ko rin heartbreaks at work,” Karen wrote.

She acknowledged that clients and decision-makers had the right to choose who would represent their brands, even when their decisions were painful for her.

“But regardless as clients, they have the right to choose who they want to represent them… so I just quietly accepted it and moved forward,” she said.

Karen also revealed that event organizers and agencies would sometimes privately tell her why she had been removed from certain projects. According to her, some of them were also devastated by what happened and remained supportive of her.

“They remain my friends and we continue to work on other projects,” she said.

Rather than allowing the setbacks to stop her career, Karen used the experiences as motivation to continue improving her craft. She focused on building her reputation and consistently delivering her best work in every hosting opportunity.

Her persistence eventually began producing what she described as her “silent wins.”

“LATELY I have been hired by theeee BIG conglomerates that used to reject me,” Karen revealed.

She said the change could have been because the companies had new decision-makers or because they had finally seen who she really was.

“Most likely their bosses changed or maybe they just saw the real me,” she wrote.

Karen expressed gratitude to local and international companies that continued to believe in her, while also reflecting on the irony of being repeatedly hired by some of the same companies that had previously rejected her.

“While those that rejected me… I’m so glad they’re now getting me over and over again today,” she said.

Before ending her post, Karen turned her experience into an encouraging message for people who may also be facing rejection, judgment, or limited opportunities.

“Soooo if life is hard for you now, feeling judged, rejected and possibly with little opportunities due to whatever reason…. KEEP WORKING ON YOUR CRAFT!” she wrote.

Karen urged her followers to continue building themselves and to recognize their own worth despite difficult circumstances.

She also encouraged them to keep their struggles private when necessary and allow their future achievements to speak for themselves.

“Eventually those that rejected you won’t even be able to ignore you,” she said.

For Karen, the difficult years became part of the journey toward rebuilding her career. Her latest message emphasized perseverance, self-improvement, and allowing consistent hard work to eventually overcome the judgments of others.
