Veteran actress Lorna Tolentino has entered a new chapter beyond showbiz after officially joining the Philippine Naval Reserve Command.

Lorna marked the milestone with her graduation ceremony in Taguig on August 7, where she was accompanied by her son, Rap Fernandez, and other loved ones. She also shared photos and glimpses from the occasion, expressing pride in completing the demanding training.

“Discipline is choosing to finish, even when it’s hard,” Lorna wrote in her post.

She was given the rank of Seaman First Class and assigned to duties connected to the Navy’s medical and media work, according to ABS-CBN.

“Dun nila ako nilagay. Kasi mas makakatulong ako sa media. In-interview nga nila ako after the graduation. Magsasalita ako para sa Hukbong Sandatahang Pandagat. Nabonggahan ako sa kanila. Masaya!” she said.

Although her years in front of the camera prepared her for the media side of the assignment, Lorna still had to face the physical demands of military training.

Among the experiences she remembered was a sea training exercise in Cavite that tested her strength and endurance.

“Parang banana boat, na tumalbug-talbog ako. Ang hirap! Sumakit lahat ng katawan ko. Kasi yung waves, tumatalbug-talbog ka. Puwede kang tumilapon kung hindi ka nakakapit sa rope. Sabi ko, 'Ano ba yan! Kung kailan ako tumanda!” she recalled.

Despite the difficulty, Lorna successfully completed the program and received praise from fans who admired her determination to serve.

Her decision also holds special meaning because of her late husband, veteran actor Rudy Fernandez, who was a Philippine Navy reservist himself.

“Sabi ko siyempre, naging inspirasyon ko si Daboy, kasi Philippine Navy reservist siya. Noong pumanaw si Rudy ay binigyan ito ng military honors ng Philippine Navy. Because of the full military honors na binigay sa kanya… kay Daboy ng Philippine Navy, nakaka-touch sa puso,” she shared.

Lorna now joins other celebrities who have served as Philippine Navy reservists, including Dingdong Dantes, Christopher De Leon, Rocco Nacino, Winwyn Marquez, and Carlos Yulo.

Dindo subsequently shared their exchange to help correct the misunderstanding surrounding the video and prevent further speculation about Lorna and Lito.
