Filipino-French entrepreneur Christophe Bariou has publicly shared for the first time his private battle against cancer, revealing that he once faced a prognosis that gave him only weeks to live before eventually making a remarkable recovery.

In a TikTok video accompanied by a heartfelt caption, the partner of Kapamilya actress Nadine Lustre explained why he chose to remain silent about his illness until now. According to Christophe, he never wanted to be viewed as someone seeking sympathy while countless others were fighting the same disease.

"This was something I never thought I'd share at all on social media. Maybe I never did because I preferred not to be seen as the victim, or to use this illness to appeal for pity."

He also reflected on how difficult it was to speak about his experience while witnessing many patients lose their own battles.

"And while I was successfully overcoming it, I saw many around me losing their lives trying to, so it didn't feel right to talk about myself."

Christophe revealed that about three years ago, doctors diagnosed him with a rare form of lymphoma and initially believed he only had a few weeks left to survive.

"Around three years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer, and I was told I only had a few weeks left to live."

He described the diagnosis as one of the darkest moments of his life.

"But this was different. The enemy was invisible and deep inside my own body — a body that I never doubted before."

The businessman admitted that fear quickly gave way to frustration as he imagined losing the future he had envisioned.

"There is no shame in acknowledging I was scared, but I was also angry and frustrated at life."

He said he feared he would never have children, build his own family, complete the projects he had started in Siargao, or even achieve personal dreams.

At one point, Christophe considered remaining in Siargao instead of seeking treatment because he believed there was little hope left.

"At that point, I was about to choose to stay put in Siargao, live the best I could out of my last days, and not even bother trying to cure myself, since I thought there was not much hope left."

Everything changed after other doctors informed him that specialized treatment in France could still save his life.

"A couple of days later... I learned from other doctors that there was a chance to heal, but I had to drop everything, leave immediately, and go back to France to a specialized hospital."

Doctors later confirmed he had an extremely rare type of lymphoma.

"They discovered I had a very rare type of lymphoma and even mentioned it was so rare they had no statistics of survival."

Despite the uncertainty, Christophe underwent chemotherapy and immunotherapy. To his relief, the treatment proved successful much earlier than expected.

"After only two months of intense chemotherapy and immunotherapy, I was in full remission."

He also expressed gratitude that France's healthcare system allowed him to receive advanced cancer treatment without financial burden.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Christophe said surviving cancer transformed the way he sees life. He shared that his goals remained the same but became more meaningful, while his commitment to kindness, compassion, animal rights, and mindful living only grew stronger.

He concluded by encouraging others not to wait for tragedy before appreciating life.

"I can make mistakes, I can make bad decisions, but one thing I never want to have again is regrets. Live and let live."

Christophe also thanked everyone who stood by him throughout the most difficult chapter of his life, including his loved ones, family, and close friends.
