The veteran showbiz insider and talent manager made the candid confession during the latest episode of "Showbiz Updates" on Tuesday, July 21, while discussing the controversy surrounding actress Ivana Alawi.
Ivana recently became the subject of online criticism after promoting the online gaming app Casino Plus alongside her giveaway of 100 iPhone 17 units. The discussion prompted Ogie to reflect on his own experience with gảmbling endorsements.

“sa totoo lang, nakapag-endorse din ako. Guilty ako diyan. [...] Pero mula noon, ayaw ko na.”
He explained that one of the reasons he stopped accepting such projects was because he found it difficult to promote something he did not genuinely participate in.
“Kasi parang ang hirap i-endorse ‘yong isang bagay na hindi mo naman ginagawa. Pero ipararamdam mo sa mga tao na ginagawa mo ‘yon at nae-excite ka lagi na gawin ito. Pero sa totoo lang, karamihan ng artistang kinuhang endorser, hindi naman naglalaro,” Ogie added.
Ogie also pointed to a story shared by content creator Gabe Pineda, who previously worked at a rehabilitation center. According to Gabe, many of the patients admitted to the facility were struggling with gảmbling addiction, an experience that further reinforced Ogie's decision to distance himself from promoting online gaming platforms.
Because of what he has learned and witnessed through others' experiences, Ogie said he now turns down offers to endorse gảmbling-related products, even if opportunities continue to come his way.
“Kasi nakaka-guilty talaga. Una, nagi-guilty ka kasi marami kang nahihikayat, lalo na ‘yong mga naniniwala sa ‘yo. [...] Pangalawa, hindi naman ako sugarol,” he said.
His remarks came as discussions continue over the role of celebrities and influencers in promoting online gảmbling platforms. While opinions remain divided, Ogie emphasized that his personal realization and the stories of people affected by gảmbling have changed his perspective.
Previously, comedian Jobert Austria, popularly known as Kuya Jobert, also criticized Ivana Alawi's promotion of Casino Plus, adding to the broader public conversation surrounding celebrity endorsements of online gảmbling.
