She disclosed that director Jeffery Jeturian's film Ekstra was originally intended to be her farewell project before she shifted to a more stable profession.

Ruiz explained that the inconsistent work became increasingly difficult as she focused on supporting her family. Without regular television projects at the time, she felt continuing her acting career was no longer practical.

“Napagod na ako. Parang paano ‘to mag-aaral na ‘to parang di ko na kaya yung sa isang buwan, isa o dalawang shooting. Never pa naman ako nagkateleserye that time so sabi ko, tama na.”

The veteran actress clarified that fame was never her primary goal. Instead, she simply wanted a steady source of income that would allow her to provide for her child without constantly worrying about when the next acting job would come.
