During a press conference on June 23, Gian shared that acting had always been his first dream, even before he pursued a career in music.

“To be completely honest, first love ko talaga ang film in its essence,” he said.

The singer explained that becoming an actor was already part of his plans before he became known as a performer. Now that Cup of Joe has achieved significant success, he feels it is the right time to explore another side of his artistry.

“Even before I discovered na gusto ko ring maging performer, gusto ko muna maging artista. It's definitely one of my plans entering the industry,” Gian revealed.

Despite entering a new field, Gian stressed that acting will not take away from his commitment to music. Instead, he sees it as another way to grow as an artist.

“I won't treat it [acting career] as a distraction siguro. I will treat it as something that will make me a better artist,” he explained.

Gian is not entirely new to acting. He previously appeared in the digital series Quaranthings and starred in short films such as Kubli and Microplastics. He also appeared in music videos and made his directorial debut through Cup of Joe’s music video for “Sandali.”

One of the biggest questions surrounding his acting venture was how it might affect the band. According to Gian, his fellow Cup of Joe members have been supportive from the start.

“Noong sinabi ko sa kanila, full support naman sila. I'm really thankful for that,” he shared.

He also assured fans that the group remains strong despite his solo venture.

“Ngayon, talagang intact kami as a band,” Gian said.
“We're very much open in communicating with each other and nase-set naman yung boundary na itong gagawin ko ngayon it's really sa film and TV.”

Aside from pursuing acting, Gian is also preparing for a major image change. As part of his rebranding, he announced that he will soon say goodbye to his signature red hair.

“Last n'yo na 'to makikita, guys,” he joked.

For Gian, acting is not a departure from music but the fulfillment of a dream he has carried for years while continuing his journey with Cup of Joe.
