Vice Ganda life story

The actor grew up in a neighbourhood in Tondo, Manila. During his childhood, Vice was hesitant to reveal his true sexuality to his father because two of his brothers already identified as gay. Vice’s father worked as the barangay captain and would claim that Vice was his favourite child.

Tragedy struck the Viceral family a week before Vice’s 15th birthday. Vice’s father, Reynaldo Viceral was killed by a gunshot in front of Vice and his mother. The incident happened just outside their house, leaving their home lives shaken.

In a press conference for Praybeyt Benjamin, Vice recalled the tragic event, describing it as heavy, traumatic, and emotionally scarring. In that same conference, he stated that the healing process was not easy because his father died during their attempt to take his bloody body to the nearest hospital (Chinese General Hospital) for treatment.

In an episode of "It's Showtime", Vice shared that surviving the financial struggle brought on by his father's untimely demise was not easy. To make money, his mother would knit rags that he would, later on, sell to jeepney drivers. That was until his mother left home to work abroad as a means to provide.

Later on, Vice Ganda studied Political Science at Far Eastern University. He started his career as a stand-up comedian for Punchline and the Library, where he picked up the nickname "Vice Ganda”. He then spent several years working in comedy clubs to hone his skills. His earliest known partners in stand-up comedy are John Lapus, Chokoleit, and Pooh.

In latest news, the actor is rumoured but not confirmed to be in a relationship with fashion model and social media personality Ion Perez. Rumours about their possible romantic involvement have circulated several social media platforms and are fuelled by the constant teasing of Vice's co-hosts in “It’s Showtime”.

Earlier this year, Vice and Ion gathered their families in one room, leading online fans to speculate that they are officially together. However, during an interview with an ABS-CBN Network reporter, Perez denied being romantically involved with Vice:

“Sobrang malapit lang kami sa isa’t isa kaya siguro 'yung mga tao nag-iisip sila, ganun' yung nagiging reaksyon nila”, Perez explained.

In an earlier guest appearance in Vice's talk show, however, Perez did admit that Vice is "special" to him, a statement met by Vice with a humorous denial. The two continue to jokingly hint about their relationship in T.V. appearances.
