The tragic loss of Ateneo Blue Eagles players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili continue to draw immense support, this time from one of local showbiz's biggest names.

Opting to show up during a challenging time, Claudine Barretto arrived at the funeral home with three companions to offer her prayers for the 19-year-old student-athlete. Rene, who along with his teammate Divine Adili, tragically lost their lives to drowning during a recent university team-building and training session in Dipaculao, Aurora which has since made headlines online.

Speaking briefly with reporters, Claudine looked visibly touched by the heavy atmosphere inside the chapel.

"Very heavy. That’s all I can say," Claudine expressed softly. "Nakikiramay tayo. Nakikiramay tayo sa pamilva," the Optimum Star told the media.

Aside from her natural instinct as a parent to support a fellow grieving mother, Claudine uncovered a deeply personal reason for making the visit. She explained that she wanted to stand by Rovelyn Baterbonia, who is apparently a 'Claudinian' which the actress divulged to the media.

"Sinusuportahan natin ang mga Claudinian. She's a Claudinian," the actress explained warmly.

Claudine and her companions quietly departed right after attending the special memorial mass held for Rene.

The young rookie’s final journey is currently being arranged. Rene's remains will soon be flown to Davao City for a public viewing at the Christ the King Chapel, located inside the Ateneo de Davao Senior High School Bangkal Campus. After the viewing, his body will finally be brought home to his hometown of Talacogon.
