The controversy began when a screenshot circulated from Ogie Diaz’s social media account showing Cayetano’s statement addressing political opponents who allegedly called for his resignation. In the statement, Cayetano said:

"Yung mga nagkampi-kampi na mga Marcos na rin, nagpapasalamat ako sa call n'yo na mag-resign ako bilang Senate President, kasi ibig sabihin nire-recognize n'yo pa rin ako as Senate President. Kasi kung hindi n'yo na ako nire-recognize as Senate President, bakit nananawagan kayo na mag-resign ako as Senate President?"

Ogie Diaz then responded through his own Instagram and Facebook post, offering a sharp counter-argument that shifted the discussion toward personal relationships and consistency in recognition.

"So nung di mo sinuportahan si @linocayetano at ibang tao ang in-endorse mo, does this mean, di mo na siya nire-recognize as kapatid mo?" Ogie wrote in his post.

His comment immediately sparked further debate, with supporters and critics weighing in on whether political decisions should be compared to family relationships, and whether endorsements affect personal recognition.

Ogie also said:

"Justify pa more..."

The exchange between the two personalities quickly spread across social media platforms, with users sharing screenshots and commentary on both statements. While some praised Ogie Diaz for his bold analogy, others defended Cayetano’s original remark, saying it was taken in a political context rather than a personal one.

As of writing, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano has not issued any response to Ogie Diaz’s post or the ongoing discussions surrounding the issue. The matter continues to circulate online, drawing attention from both political observers and casual netizens.
