In an appearance on the podcast “I-Listen” hosted by Kara David, Matet clarified that her involvement in live selling is a professional arrangement that comes with a talent fee (TF), which she said is significantly higher depending on the product being promoted.
“Hindi nila alam magkano ang bayad sa akin. Pagtinda ng corned beef naku day, nakakaloka, mahal. Mataas ang TF kapag ganoon kasi may name din 'yung product sikat 'yon eh,” Matet said.
The actress explained that she initially entered the live selling space after being contacted by an agency and later through TikTok itself. According to her, she did not even have her own product at first, but opportunities eventually led her to represent multiple brands.

“Ang TikTok nag-reach out, 'Ms. Matet you can sell your product.' Sabi ko 'wala akong produkto.' After a year biglang 'yung produkto ko ni-live sell ko and may kumuha sa aking agency, mga ilang products to start tapos 'yon na nagbebenta ako for them with good TF and percentage na,” she added.
Matet also reflected on the emotional side of her experience as a live seller, recalling a moment when she broke down after receiving harsh comments from netizens during a live session. Some users linked her work to personal and painful remarks about her late mother, National Artist Nora Aunor.
Despite the criticism, Matet emphasized that live selling is a dignified way of earning a living.
“Kasi alam mo marangal na trabaho ang pagla-live selling at nabubuhay naman kami araw-araw dahil sa live selling,” she stated.
She also briefly reflected on her upbringing as a child star and her experience being an adopted child of actor Christopher de Leon and Nora Aunor, who had five children including biological and adopted ones.
As a prominent member of a multi-generational showbiz family, Matet de Leon has carved out her own distinct legacy in Philippine entertainment since her debut as a child actress in 1986. Renowned for her natural humor and relatable charm, she remains a constant and beloved fixture on both the small and big screens.
In another report, Matet de Leon looked back on the strict discipline she experienced growing up under her late mother, Nora Aunor. She admitted that she was considered the most “sutil” among her siblings, which often led to firmer and stricter handling from her mother during her childhood years. Matet also shared a specific incident where she was punished after cursing in school, recalling how such moments were part of her upbringing.
Meanwhile, Matet de Leon addressed renewed rumors about alleged conflict among her siblings, clarifying that there is no serious rift within their family. She explained that what people have been calling a “rift” is actually just a minor misunderstanding and stressed that there is no hierarchy among them since Nora Aunor treated all her children equally.
