Iwa Moto has opened up about a promise that her longtime partner, Pampi Lacson, made years before they became officially engaged.

During her guest appearance on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Monday, the actress shared that Pampi had already expressed his intention to marry her long before their recent engagement.

According to Iwa, Pampi even gave her a promise ring as a symbol of his commitment.

“Pampi gave me a promise ring before, that he would marry me after ‘yung annulment po nila ni Jodi,” she said.

The couple became engaged in February this year, marking another milestone in their long-term relationship. Iwa also revealed that the engagement was warmly received by Pampi's former wife, actress Jodi Sta. Maria.

Recalling their conversation, Iwa shared Jodi’s reaction to the news.

“'Kung alam mo lang kung gaano ako ka-happy kasi ang tagal natin inantay ‘to,'” Iwa recalled Jodi saying.

Beyond the engagement, Iwa also spoke about the proposal itself, revealing that it happened during a meaningful trip to Japan. The trip was especially emotional because she wanted to visit her late father's grave.

The actress then discussed their wedding plans, saying that while they are excited about tying the knot, they are taking a practical approach to preparing for the big day.

“Sa kasamaang palad po, hindi po ako Disney Princess. Kailangan ko po mag-ipon, kailangan po namin mag-ipon pareho kasi syempre medyo mahal po ang pagpapakasal. Tsaka nakakahiya naman kung ihihingi namin sa ibang tao,” she said.

Iwa explained that both she and Pampi are working hard to save money for their future wedding.

“We are really trying our best to work hard and earn para magpakasal,” she added.

The couple is currently eyeing a 2028 wedding. According to Iwa, they intentionally chose a date after the national elections to avoid complications and ensure a more peaceful celebration.

“Mga August po. Para hindi na rin po magulo, tahimik na rin po,” she said.

Adding another heartwarming detail, Iwa revealed that Jodi will play a special role on their wedding day. Despite their unique family dynamics, Jodi is expected to serve as one of Iwa’s bridesmaids, highlighting the positive relationship they have maintained over the years.

Iwa Moto is a Japanese-Philippine actress, model, and reality television personality who rose to fame as the first runner-up in the third season of GMA Network's StarStruck. She is widely recognized for her memorable roles as Rita Acuesta in Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap and the iconic villain Valentina in the 2009 TV series Darna.
