The conversation took place during an excerpt from Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, where the host asked Jake how Manilyn supports him whenever he is dealing with personal challenges.

Jake revealed that he frequently turns to Manilyn for advice, especially when he feels uncertain about important decisions in his life.

“Minsan po kase nag-oopen ako sa kanya about sa buhay-buhay ko. 'Nay, paano ba 'to? Paano ko ba sisimulan 'yung ganito?'” Jake shared.

As the discussion continued, the actor admitted that one of his biggest personal struggles is his inability to refuse requests from other people.

“Like, hindi ka basta-basta umooo, kase ako po 'yung taong laging oo nang oo kahit hindi ko naman gusto 'yung ginagawa. Hindi po ko marunong humindi. Parang ganun, Tito Boy,” he said.

The revelation prompted Boy Abunda to ask Manilyn what advice she usually gives Jake in situations like those.

According to Manilyn, learning to say no is an important part of protecting one's well-being and personal happiness.

“Sabi ko sa kanya, you can say no na hindi ka feeling guilty. You know that? Kase kung ayaw mo gawin, then don't,” she explained.

The actress stressed that people should not feel obligated to please everyone at the expense of their own happiness.

“Ano bang importante sa'yo? 'Yung sumaya sila o ikaw? S'yempre kailangan mo rin sumaya eh...” she said.

Manilyn also highlighted the importance of self-love, noting that genuine care for others starts with taking care of oneself first.

“Before ka naman maka-extend ng happiness at ng love sa ibang tao, you have to love yourself first too,” she added.

The exchange resonated with viewers because it touched on a common struggle faced by many people—feeling pressured to always say yes and prioritize others' needs. Through her advice, Manilyn encouraged Jake to establish healthier boundaries and recognize that choosing himself does not make him selfish. Instead, she believes it is a necessary step toward maintaining personal happiness and emotional well-being.
