During a recent episode of It's Showtime, the "Unkabogable Star" Vice Ganda sparked a deep conversation about what it truly means to be a parent. The discussion began when Vice pointed out how some people view children as a "safety net" for their own future or a way to keep a family name alive.

Vice explained that this mindset is often self-centered rather than child-centered.
"Yung iba kasi... bakit gusto niyo maging magulang? 'Kasi para may mag-alaga sakin pagtanda ko,' o 'Para may makasama naman ako pagtanda' o 'Para naman may magpatuloy nung apelyido namin.' So pakabig siya, hindi siya paganun," Vice observed.

"Ang essence ng pagiging totoong magulang eh yung kakayahan mong magbigay, hindi para tumanggap. That makes motherhood really noble," the host added.
Jhong Hilario agreed, noting that the success of a parent isn't measured by personal achievements, but by the kind of person they've been to their children while raising them as well.
"Hindi lang siya basta achievement, legacy yun eh. Yung alam mo sa sarili mo na naging mabuti kang nanay para sa mga anak mo," Jhong said to Vice.
Vice further explained that parenting is the ultimate final exam for everything a person has ever learned.
"At pag naging nanay ka, diyan talaga masusubok lahat ng natutunan mo sa buhay... Lahat ng natutunan mo, magagamit mo pag naging magulang ka na."
