The idea of appointing BINI as tourism ambassadors gained traction following their historic appearance at Coachella, where they became the first Filipino P-Pop group to perform at the internationally renowned music festival. Their performance not only drew global attention but also sparked renewed discussions on how Filipino artists can help promote the country.
“Why not? Let’s do it. Gawin natin. BINI and so many other artists… sila yung ilabas natin. Ipakita natin sa buong mundo, they are the best foot forward for the rest of the world,” Aquino said in an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday.
The Senate recently welcomed BINI and formally acknowledged their accomplishments through Senate Resolution No. 370, which Aquino sponsored. The resolution commended the group for showcasing Filipino talent and music on an international platform. Members of BINI personally received copies of the resolution during their visit.

"It's our way of congratulating them and wishing them the best," Aquino said.
"Yung performance ng BINI sa Coachella, really created waves in the entertainment industry and really brought out the Filipino pride."
He added that the group’s presence on a global stage highlighted their strong sense of national pride.
"Nakakatuwa na nandun sila, in a global setting, at halatang-halata sa kanilang performance na proud na proud sila sa pagiging Pilipino," he noted.
Aquino also expressed optimism that BINI’s success could open doors for other Filipino artists internationally.
“I hope our local artists can take the same path. Magaling dito, magaling sa ibang bansa, maging global ang sining natin,” he said.
Beyond recognition, the senator emphasized the importance of investing in the country’s creative sector as a form of “soft power,” recalling how South Korea successfully promoted its culture through K-pop and K-drama.
Other senators echoed similar sentiments during the session. Senator Joel Villanueva highlighted BINI’s impressive digital impact, noting that they became the most-viewed female act on Coachella’s Instagram during the festival. He also pointed out that the group ranked second in total online engagement, next only to Justin Bieber.
Villanueva described their success as “isang tunay na 'Cherry on Top' sa makasaysayang pag-angat ng OPM at talentong Pilipino sa pandaigdigang entablado,” underscoring the growing global recognition of Filipino artistry.
BINI is composed of eight members: Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena. Since their debut, they have earned the title “Nation’s Girl Group” because of their growing influence on Philippine pop music and their strong connection with supporters. Through successful performances, music releases, and public appearances, the group has established itself as one of the leading P-pop acts of its generation. Their achievements continue to bring pride to Filipino fans both locally and internationally.
In separate news, BINI was recently honored at the Philippine Senate following the group’s historic international performance at Coachella. The recognition came through Senate Resolution No. 46 led by Senate President Vicente Sotto III. BINI made history as the first Filipino act to perform at the globally recognized festival, earning praise from lawmakers and supporters alike. Their accomplishment was celebrated as an inspiration to young Filipinos striving to succeed on the international stage.
Meanwhile, Anne Curtis also returned to Coachella after 16 years and shared memorable moments from the event online. She proudly expressed support for BINI following the group’s successful Coachella debut. Anne likewise reminisced about attending the festival for the first time in 2008, recalling how meaningful the experience was for her. Fans warmly reacted to her updates, saying they missed seeing her enjoying music festivals and major international events.
