Award-winning actress Dawn Zulueta clarified that she is not retired from the entertainment industry despite her extended absence from television and film projects. She explained that her current status is only a temporary break as she prioritizes personal life and family, while stepping away from the demanding schedule of productions.

In an interview with PeopleAsia, Dawn opened up about the main reasons behind her decision to pause her showbiz career. She admitted that the long hours and working conditions in tapings and shootings played a major role in her choice to step back.

“I got tired with the way we were working, the usual, the late hours and all of these things. I decided muna, I take a rest from it,” she said.

Aside from the challenges in work, she also shared that her family became her top priority, especially her children who were at important stages of their teenage years. She wanted to be more present during key moments in their education and growth.

“My son (Jacobo) was still here (sa Pilipinas), we were preparing for him, his senior year, choosing a college he was gonna go to,” she shared.

Dawn emphasized that despite her break, she has no intention of leaving showbiz permanently and still considers herself part of the industry.

“I’m not retired. I’m just stepping back. I do miss it,” she said.

Dawn added that she misses the creativity and collaboration in acting, although not the working conditions.

Looking forward, she revealed that she is open to returning with more challenging and different roles. One of the roles she is particularly interested in is playing a kontrabida, something she has not explored extensively in her career.

“I haven’t done too many villain, kontrabida would be something exciting to do,” Dawn said.

She also expressed interest in being more involved in the creative process of future projects, hinting that her possible comeback may bring a fresh direction in her acting journey.
