She expressed that her old singing videos, which have recently resurfaced and captivated online audiences, are heartfelt tributes to her mother, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).

The young artist disclosed on Thursday that these nostalgic performances from her childhood were specifically intended for her mother, Mommy Bambie, who works abroad and often missed significant family and school events due to her overseas commitments.

"'Yung mom ko po kasi ay isang OFW. Hindi po siya nakakapunta sa lahat ng events namin sa school. Wala po siya every time," Mika shared, reflecting on her childhood.
"So ‘yung mga pine-perform ko po sa school, bini-video ng ate ko, ng mga pinsan [ko], tapos pinapadala sa kaniy. Kasi po through that mapapanood niya po ‘yung performance ko na siya lang or solo niya nang malapit. Kaya po para sa nanay ko po ‘yung lahat ng videos ko."

This poignant practice highlights the emotional sacrifices made by countless Filipino families separated by migration, and the creative ways they maintain connections despite geographical distances.

For many OFWs, digital recordings of their children's milestones serve as a crucial link to their lives back home, allowing them a semblance of presence in moments they cannot physically share.

Mika also provided an update on her blossoming music career, a path she expressed keen interest in pursuing since her triumph inside the PBB house.

She revealed that her highly anticipated album is currently "in the works" and nearing completion. "It's being cooked," she excitedly stated, confirming that the album will feature her track "Sino Nga Ba Siya".

Her musical journey has been a significant part of her post-PBB ventures, building on the foundation of her win alongside duo partner Brent Manalo.

Beyond her musical endeavors, Mika Salamanca is also currently showcasing her acting prowess.

She is starring as the character Anaca in the ongoing fantasy series "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre," further diversifying her portfolio in the entertainment industry.

The resurfacing of her old singing videos not only offers a nostalgic look at Mika Salamanca's early talents but also sheds light on the profound impact of OFWs on their families and the innovative ways technology helps bridge the gap created by their absence.

Her dedication resonates with many Filipinos who understand the unique challenges and deep emotional bonds within OFW families.
