She was accompanied by her legal counsel Atty. Heyz Meking when she officially submitted her complaint to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Quezon City, before Deputy Prosecutor SACP Alexis G. Bartolome.

The former singer-actress was also joined by key witnesses, including her mother Teresita Custodio, her daughter Charisse Marianne Platon, and close friend and actress Bianca Lapus, demonstrating a strong support system backing her legal action.

This recent filing marks a renewed effort by Lindsay, who had initially filed a similar VAWC case, along with an alleged perjury complaint, in Muntinlupa City in 2024.

However, that case was dismissed because the alleged incidents of abuse took place in Quezon City, rendering Muntinlupa outside the appropriate jurisdiction.

Lindsay, at the time, had publicly announced her intention to refile the case in March of this year, emphasizing her resolve to reclaim her dignity and safeguard her loved ones.

In a statement to the media covering the filing, the former singer-actress underscored her motivations.

“Ginagawa ko ito hindi lamang para sa aking sarili kundi para sa aking mga anak, at sa aking ina na tahimik na tiniis ang lahat kasama ako,” she expressed, indicating that her fight extends beyond personal vindication to encompass the protection and well-being of her children and mother, whom she claimed to have endured hardships alongside her.

The re-filing of the VAWC case follows a period of legal challenges between the estranged couple.

Earlier this year, Frederick Cale reportedly filed a cyberlibel case against Lindsay in Mandaue City, Cebu.

This move by Cale was reportedly in response to interviews Custodio had given to media outlets regarding their marital issues.

The legal battles between them have drawn attention to the complexities of personal disputes involving public figures and the various legal avenues available for redress.

Lindsay’s decision to pursue the VAWC case underscores the seriousness of the allegations and her commitment to seeing the legal process through.

The presence of her family and close friend during the filing signals a unified front in her pursuit of justice.

The case is now set to proceed in the proper jurisdiction, where the merits of her complaint will be examined.

This ongoing legal saga serves as a public reminder of the challenges individuals face in domestic disputes and the importance of seeking legal avenues for resolution and protection under laws designed to protect vulnerable individuals.

Lindsay Custodio is a former actress and singer from the Philippines who rose to fame in the 1990s. She is known for being one of the members of the youth-oriented show Ang TV and also became a recording artist, recognized for her mellow and love song-inspired hits.

In March of this year, Lindsay's estranged husband filed a cyber libel case against her concerning an article from 2022. In the said article, Lindsay recounted her alleged traumatic experience on their wedding day, including the forced withdrawal of their money for wedding expenses. The actress-singer went to Cebu to face the complaint, but she admitted to being surprised and dismayed by her estranged husband's action. The Muntinlupa Prosecutor’s Office previously dismissed the earlier perjury case against Lindsay, as well as the case she filed against Frederick regarding a violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act citing jurisdictional issues.

It can be recalled that the former singer-actress married her non-showbiz fiancé. She tied the knot with Frederick Cale on May 1, 2022, with several of her showbiz colleagues attending. Among those who attended the wedding were singer Rosel Nava and the couple Jan Marini and Gerard Pizarras. Lindsay became a widow in November 2018 after her husband, Tanauan, Batangas Vice Mayor Julius Caesar Platon, passed away due to a heart attack.
