Sen. Risa Hontiveros, nakatanggap ng kopya ng libro ni VP Sara Duterte

The Office of the Vice President sent Sen. Risa Hontiveros a copy of Vice President Sara Duterte’s book titled “Isang Kaibigan.”

On Tuesday, August 21, ABS-CBN News shared photos of the book, one of which shows Hontiveros browsing through the children’s book.

The photos also display the author’s page and the front page. The author’s page lists Duterte’s elective positions and the line, “Siya ay isang tunay na kaibigan.”

To recall, during the Senate budget deliberations on the 2025 proposed budget of the OVP, Hontiveros asked Duterte about the content of the book that’s allotted P10 million in the budget.

According to Rappler’s report, the Vice President then accused Hontiveros of politicizing the hearing.

Sara Zimmerman Duterte-Carpio, commonly known as Inday Sara, is a Filipino lawyer and politician who currently serves as the 15th vice president of the Philippines. She is notable for being the third female vice president, the third vice president from Mindanao, and the youngest vice president in the country's history. Duterte held the position of secretary of education until July 19, 2024. She is the daughter of the 16th president, Rodrigo Duterte, and has served as the mayor of Davao City from 2016 to 2022 and from 2010 to 2013. Additionally, she was Davao City's vice mayor from 2007 to 2010.

Earlier, Vice President Sara Duterte said she would not attend the third SONA of President Bongbong Marcos. She shared her decision in an ambush interview during the inauguration of the Child and Adolescent Neurodevelopmental Center in Davao City on Thursday. The Vice President also named herself the "designated survivor." This will be the first time that Duterte will skip PBBM's SONA since their tandem won the 2022 election.

VP Sara Duterte, during the Senate hearing for the OVP budget, said she doesn’t want to be "plastic." This was her reply to the request of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano for parties in the hearing to be cordial. Earlier during the same hearing, VP Sara and Sen. Risa Hontiveros figured in a heated exchange. This was after Sen. Risa asked about the book project of VP Sara called "Isang Kaibigan."
