Kokoi Baldo, ABS-CBN’s The Voice Season 2 finalist and often referred to by the media as Bob Marley of the Philippines, has died in a freak accident today, December 8.

In a video live report by K5 News FM Bacolod 103.9, the famous reggae singer was on board his motorcycle when the accident occurred.

According to the report, as narrated by witnesses, the accident allegedly happened around 1 AM early today near Purok Active, Circumferential Road, in Bacolod City.

As per report, Kokoi was allegedly trying to pass by a truck carrying sugarcane when his motorcycle crashed, throwing him on the road.

K5 News FM, quoting a witness who said he was following Kokoi and the truck when the freak accident happened, reported that the famous reggae artist was thrown off his motorcycle and fell directly under the wheel of the truck he was trying to pass by.

The rear wheel allegedly ran over him, causing Kokoi’s instantaneous death.

Kokoi rose to fame after becoming one of the finalists in ABS-CBN’s The Voice Philippines Season 2.

Some media outlets also refer to him as Bob Marley of the Philippines.

Juan Manuel Baldo, more popularly known as Kokoi Baldo, is a reggae artist from Bacolod City. He gained celebrity status after gaining the approval of The Voice of the Philippines' coaches Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo Mañalac, and Apl.de.Ap, later allowing him to be one of the finalists of the popular singing competition.

In a previous report by KAMI News, a video of Kokoi singing his version of the hit song, “Rude,” went viral. The video got thousands of reactions from fans who were surprised with his performance. That particular report described him as a former finalist of The Voice Philippines where he is known for his epic performances.

Another celebrity who recently died was comedian and singer, Jograd Dela Torre. His sister, Arlene MuCullough, made the announcement on her Facebook page. As per Daily Tribune, he was confined for three days at the hospital due to a lingering illness. Recently, the comedian had an interview with entertainment writer Morly Alinio, where he revealed that he has been dealing with liver disease.
