Ice Seguerra, umalma sa pagkaka-aresto ni Pura Luka Vega: "Bilis niyong magsampa ng kaso"

- Ice Seguerra has taken to Facebook to express his thoughts on the recent arrest of drag artist Pura Luka Vega

- The singer, who is also a member of the LGBTQIA, was not in favor of the arrest, calling Philippine laws archaic

- He then said that while it is easy to file a case against a person who "offended" religious beliefs, the LGBTQIA still has no rights in the eyes of the law.

- For Ice, it is allegedly work, rights and their dignity that are being stripped of them

Ice Seguerra has taken to FB and expressed his indignation over the arrest of Pura Luka Vega.

His initial statement was that the said arrest only showed that Philippine laws were allegedly archaic.

"This only goes to show how archaic Philippine laws are."

He then said that while it was easy to file a case against someone who allegedly offended the religious beliefs of another, the LGBTQIA still has no rights under the law.

"Madaling magsampa ng kaso sa isang taong naka “offend” ng religious beliefs nang karamihan but meanwhile, wala pa ring karapatan sa mata ng batas ang mga LGBTQIA persons na tinatanggalan ng trabaho, sinasaktan, pinapatay na most often than not, ay dahil din sa religion."

He then asked lawmakers, as to where was the "separation of church and state?"

"Sa inyo, nung paniniwala ninyo ang tinamaan, grabe na kayo makaalma. Ang bilis niyong magsampa ng kaso. Kami, kabuhayan, karapatan, at dignidad ang inaalis ninyo sa amin pero ano, kibit-balikat lang at kailangan lang namin tanggapin at unawain?"

"To our lawmakers, saan na ang sinasabi ninyong separation of church and state? Saan yung sinasabi niyong kaya kayo nandiyan ay para gumawa ng mga batas na pangkalahatan?"

Ice Seguerra, or Cariza Yamson Seguerra in real life, is a Filipino actor, singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is also a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and the spouse of Liza Diño.

About a month ago, Ice took to Instagram and shared an account of a poser. The poser was pretending to be the singer and so he appealed to him or her not to pretend to be him. He also warned his followers about the account and asked them to simply ignore and report. Fans of the singer were quick to report the account.

Around the same time, he also penned a heartfelt tribute to his father-in-law, former DILG Undersecretary Martin Diño. The singer’s father-in-law recently passed away after battling stage 4 cancer. According to Ice, he is grateful to Martin Diño for wholeheartedly accepting and embracing him as a member of the family. Furthermore, Ice acknowledged Martin Diño's resilience and dedication to various causes, including his fight for the nation and his battle against cancer.
