She then recalled the moment she first became an anchor on @24 Oras, Mike uttered words that lit the flame in her heart.
“I recall the moment when I first anchored @24oras with you - your very words when you saw me as you entered the studio ‘It's about time!’ Those words resonated deeply, an encouragement that ignited the flame in my young journalist heart,” Mariz said.
The young journalist then said that Mike’s impact isn’t limited to the newsroom but extended outside beyond the four corners of the journalistic world.
“But your impact wasn't confined to the newsroom. You extended your wisdom beyond the mic. Your advice to me and @raffytima when we got married was to continue to nurture our friendship and to always still go out on dates,” the young journalist said.
She then said that the veteran broadcaster has left an immeasurable void and that those he left behind would always remember the “remarkable life” he lived.
“The void you will leave is truly immeasurable but as we mourn, we will always remember the remarkable life you have lived, the stories you have told and the lives you have touched,” she wrote.
“Ninong Mike, you will be painfully missed but rest now in the loving arms of our Lord and don’t worry for your legacy will live on ,” Mariz said.
Mike passed away on August 29, 2023, or exactly a month before his 72nd birthday, September 29. He was 71 when he died.
