Furthermore, Vicky Morales and Emil Sumangil were also seen emotional during the closing spiel.
Mike Enriquez, or Miguel Castro Enriquez in real life, was a multi-awarded Pinoy television and radio newscaster. He was the president of GMA Network’s regional and radio subsidiary, RGMA Network Inc., and was also the Station Manager of Super Radyo DZBB 594 AM. Mike was also a regular anchor on 24 Oras with Mel Tiangco and Vicky Morales. The veteran broadcast journalist passed away at the age of 71. GMA Network confirmed the news in a statement released Tuesday.
On the day of his passing, his fellow newscasters and workers in GMA News, all posted black photos on their respective social media pages. Among those who paid respects to his death was Arnold Clavio, who posted a black photo with a candle on his Instagram page, @akosiigan. Lyn Ching, a fellow GMA News co-worker, took to her social media pages to write the words, "Booma, you will be missed."
It can be recalled that in December 2021, Enriquez took a medical leave of absence, GMA Network announced in a statement. It noted that Enriquez “will undergo a medical procedure that will require hospital confinement” and “a minimum of three months isolation period as advised by his doctor.”
