ALV Pageant Circle, the organizer of the first-ever Miss Grand Philippines competition, has issued an official statement clarifying the involvement of Herlene Budol in the Miss Tourism World 2023 pageant.

In the statement published on their social media pages, the organization stressed that they had not yet made any confirmation that Herlene will represent the country in the international pageant to be held in London this November.

“ALV Pageant Circle would like to clarify that we have not yet issued any official confirmation regarding Miss Philippines Tourism 2023 Herlene Budol’s participation in the Miss Tourism World pageant.”

It also clarified that the title they recently awarded to Herlene is a “generic title with no contractual obligation to any international pageant.”

“While we acknowledge the achievements of our reigning queen Justine Felizarta as the first runner-up in Miss Tourism World 2022, we would like to clarify that we have since ceased from using the Miss Tourism World Philippines title.”

“Our Miss Philippines Tourism title is a generic title with no contractual obligation to any international pageant. Henceforth, our choice of global pageant may vary year after year, depending on the ideals and visions of the organization.”

The organization likewise said they never intended “to instigate any conflict of interest with our fellow pageant organizers whom we regard with mutual respect.”

Furthermore, the statement teased that the Kapuso actress will be competing in a different international tourism pageant.

Herlene Budol, also known as 'Hipon Girl', is an actress, comedian, and social media star who broke through in showbiz as a contestant on “Wowowin” and later became a host.

Herlene’s answer during the Q&A portion of Miss Grand Philippines 2023 pageant went viral. One of the judges asked Herlene what she thinks is the most urgent problem among Filipino youth and how she would address it. After answering the question, she made the crowd cheer for her when she said, “I-English-in niya po,” referring to her interpreter.

Herlene shared her meaningful advocacy in the Top 15 speech portion of Miss Grand Philippines 2023. She said that as an influencer, she would promote cyber safety. As she delivered her speech, she could not help expressing “woooh” while finding the next words to say. Meanwhile, videos of her speech made the rounds on social media.
