Carlos Agassi, in a series of Twitter posts, denied the transphobic accusation hurled at him by some netizens, particularly that of celebrity Mela Habijan.

Mela, who is a content creator and part-time actress has earned distinction for being the first winner of the international online beauty pageant Miss Trans Global.

The allegations of Mela against Carlos, which she also made in a series of tweets, were in relation to the singer-actor’s new song, “Milk Tea.”

The said song has also caught the attentions of many netizens recently.

In her tweet, Mela called out Carlos for trying to revive his showbiz career in what seemed to her was in a wrong way.

“Dear @amiragassi, I understand that you may be trying to revive your showbiz career or at the least, be relevant, but I suggest, do it right!” Mela posted on Twitter.
“The ingredients to how people bounce back in life: real talent, hard work, charisma, and treating people right. Work on these!” she added.

The celebrity content-creator then posted another tweet, this time addressing the song and video of Carlos.

“Because with all due respect, Mr. @amiragassi , setting aside my objective opinion that your song and video are of poor quality, attempting to be funny at the expense of trans women (or what you call ‘binabai na may venting milk tea’) is of low, inhumane standards,” she tweeted.
“Only the desperate will make fun of others to make them look good. Nothing beats kindness. I hope and pray, @amiragassi, that you start practicing it,” she further said.

In his reply to Mela, the singer-actor opted to address the issues hurled at him with a short retort.

“Ako sumikat ikaw laos na di pa sumisikat huhu iyak yarn, hanap kakampi,” Carlos said.

In his subsequent tweets, Carlos denied the transphobic accusations hurled against him, not only by Mela but by other netizens as well.

“Milk Tea By Carlos Agassi was supposed to be a romantic comedy song, loving all genders especially LGBTQ Community which I thought are open minded and would understand and appreciate my point since most of them are talented in the entertainment industry,” Carlos tweeted.

“Music is art and every art is open to interpretation and criticism. Pilit niyo lang na pinalalabas na transphobic, ginagawan ng issue, at nilalait ang kanta. Nagkakampihan, pinagtutulungan, at hinihila pababa. Spread love and support your local artists. Milk Tea tayo dyan,” he also posted on Twitter.
“Haay pag wala na mabara, pag mamalaki binayaran verified account nila at kunwari talented sila o malaki milk tea nya, goo boii , tehh i supot U #BarbieMovie #carlosagasai,” the singer-actor also tweeted.

Carlos Agassi is an actor, rap artist, host, and model in the Philippines. He broke through in showbiz as a member of ABS-CBN's Star Circle Batch 3 in 1993. Some of his showbiz projects include Princess Sarah (2007), Imortal (2010), and Muling Ibalik ang Tamis ng Pag-ibig (1998).

In September of last year, he reportedly had a knee surgery and after which he posted a health update. Before that, he made headlines when he asked for prayers from netizens after running into an accident. In one of his online posts, the former actor said that the surgery was successful. He then thanked his family and friends for the support that they extended to him during this tough time.

The day before that particular update, he was seen shedding tears in a viral video where he talked about his knee injury. On YouTube, Carlos' non-showbiz partner, Sarina Yamamoto posted a 22-minute vlog about the actor's operation day. Previously, Carlos made headlines when he asked prayers from netizens after meeting an accident that led to his injury. In the viral video, Carlos, who was in tears, said that he felt "useless" because of his condition.
