Pura Luka Vega has granted an exclusive interview to GMA News Online, where he explained his side regarding he viral and highly criticized drag performance where he dressed up as Jesus with the song "Ama Namin" playing in the background.

As per the report of GMA, he said that his "intent was to embody a version of Christ that is one with the qu$$r audience."

Pura also stated that he deliberately chose the rock version of the Lord's Prayer in order to be able to connect with the audience at the time of his performance.

"I deliberately chose the rock version to somehow connect with the audience at the time," Pura said.

He also stated that it was his way to reconcile his Catholic faith with his being qu$$r.

"I just want to create a narrative that despite all of these, Jesus, as the embodiment of God’s love for all, does not forget about the oppressed, including the LGBTQIA+ community," he said further.
In a message on Twitter Space, he also said that he will not apologize and that for him, his drag performance was "actually a way of praising God."
