Paolo Contis, sinabing di nila mapapalitan ang TVJ: “Wala kaming chance dun”

Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya and Buboy Villar were interviewed by GMA's Aubrey Carampel after "Eat Bulaga" went live on air Monday.

According to her report on "24 Oras," Paolo and the other hosts felt honored to be chosen to continue the noontime program.

"We're very honored na kami 'yung napili to continue the show."

However, Paolo stressed that they could never replace Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon—collectively known as TVJ.

"Siyempre lilinawin lang naman natin, walang planong palitan, wala kaming chance palitan si Tito, Vic and Joey. Wala kaming chance dun. We were just called to work. To continue the show because gusto ng TAPE office na magkapagbigay ng papremyo, saya everyday."

Betong, on the other hand, shared that he was able to feel the support from people who were at the studio.

"Pagpasok mo dito, 'yung atmosphere, talagang naramdaman mo na andu'n sila para bigyan kami ng suporta," Betong said.

Meanwhile, Buboy aired, "Naka-focus po ako sa entertainment. Nagtiwala po sila sa akin, at magtitiwala rin po ako sa mga nanonood."

Furthermore, Paolo expressed his hope that people would give them a chance as they do their job as hosts.

"Bilang kami 'yung kinuha ng TAPE, responsibilidad namin na gawin ang 100% namin."

"I hope you give us a chance. Kasi at the end of the day, pinatawag kami para tumulong sa tao, para makapagpasaya ng tao. How you can say no to that?" said Paolo.

"Eat Bulaga" is the longest-running noontime variety program on Philippine television. The show premiered on July 30, 1979. Its pioneer hosts include showbiz icons Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Tito Sotto.

"Eat Bulaga" went back live on air with its new lineup of hosts. In its episode on Monday, Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya, Buboy Villar, Cassy Legaspi, Mavy Legaspi and Alexa Miro were unveiled as the hosts. Meanwhile, multiple trending topics related to the show also landed spots on Twitter.

Dapitan City Mayor Seth Frederick "Bullet" Jalosjos, the finance director of Television and Production Exponents, Inc. (TAPE Inc.), also shared a series of posts about "Eat Bulaga." His posts on Instagram Stories showed behind-the-scenes videos of the program's live episode on Monday. It also showed parts from the said hosts' opening number along with the local girl group XOXO.
