Maritoni Fernandez, in an Instagram post, expressed her gratitude for surviving cancer and for being alive up to this day.

She said that what she’s learned from her experience is one shouldn’t take his or her own health for granted.

“Graduated chemo january 2001 and 21 years and 9 months later am still doing my bi-annual tomographies like clockwork. I am always slightly anxious during these, which i have come to learn is good, as a survivor,” Maritoni said.

“So you never forget what youve been through or take your health for granted,” she added.

The actress also said that for her, every single day is a blessing and that every cancer survivor would understand this.

“Every single day is a blessing, borrowed time if you will. Every survivor understands,” said Maritoni.

The term health is wealth has also taken a whole new meaning for Maritoni, noting that she’s also become a COVID patient previously while suffering from cancer in her 50s.

“Being in my 50s, covid and being a survivor has given the term health is wealth a whole new meaning, the actress said.

She then thanked the Almighty for the extra time given her, adding that “life is truly a gift.”

“Thank you Jesus for every extra hour, day, month, year and decade. Life is truly a gift. I am grateful,” said the actress.

She also gave her health advice to cancer patients and all other individuals reading her post.

“Drink your barley everyday, it truly helps! Take it from me,” Maritoni said.

Maritoni Fernandez is a Pinay actress and the mother of actress Lexi Fernandez. Some of the movies she appeared in Stella Magtangol (1992), Dyesebel (1996) and Soldier Soldier (1991).

The actress was among the topics of veteran columnist Lolit Solis about a year ago. According to Lolit in an interview with showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz, recalled the incident she had with Maritoni Fernandez back in the past where she hit the actress.

In a previous post, Maritoni proudly announced that she has taken her vow of marriage at the age of 51. She married her long-time partner Mon Dayrit in a private civil wedding ceremony at the Parañaque City Hall. The wedding day was on July 7, and she shared a photo of the special moment on social media. The only caption that the actress used to define the moment was “Nothing fancy, just love.”
