Iza Calzado mourns Cherie Gil's death; posts video of their random skit in 2018

- Iza Calzado recently took to social media to upload the random skit she took with Cherie Gil back in 2018

- According to Iza, she always dreamt of working with the one and only 'La Primera Contravida' of the Philippines

- While it did not materialize, Iza mentioned that she will always cherish the few good memories she has of the late actress

- Base on the reel she posted, both Iza and Cherie recreated the iconic scene from the 1985 film, "Bituing Walang Ningning"

Iza Calzado, 39, took to Instagram to mourn the sudden passing of Cherie Gil, a veteran actress, who recently passed away on August 5 at the age of 59.

On the photo and video sharing app, KAMI learned that the Darna star uploaded her random skit with Cherie which was taken back in 2018.

Looking back at her fond memory with the actress, Iza said it was the closest thing she had to working with Cherie.

Cherie, dubbed as the one and only 'La Primera Contravida' of the Philippines, is among the list of actresses whose contributions to the industry are being looked up to.

Iza, who often dreamt of working with Cherie, got the chance to do a random skit with the late actress where they re-enacted a scene from Bituing Walang Ningning.

"Cherie, this was the closest I came to working with you. A short random skit orchestrated by Noel during Cinemalaya 2018. I often dreamed about sharing energy with you on set. Learning from an icon like you," she wrote.

According to Iza, while Cherie might seem intimidating at first, the latter is actually kind, thoughtful, and generous.

"I will always remember the long message you sent me when dad passed away and how you expressed your love and fondness for him. You kept him alive in your heart and that meant the world to me. Thank you," Iza revealed.

By the end of her post, Iza said that the actress will remain as a "source of inspiration for many of us" because of her talent and professionalism.

Iza Calzado is a Kapamilya actress, endorser, television host, and dancer. She started her career in GMA-7, but in 2012, she signed a contract with ABS-CBN.

As previously reported by KAMI, Iza Calzado earned praises from netizens for her latest online post. On Instagram, the actress shared what this year's election season had taught her. She then penned a heartfelt message to the current elected administration as well. According to Iza, "We must push for progress, peace and prosperity as ONE."
