When many celebrities from ABS-CBN expressed their support for VP Leni in her presidential run, many netizens said they’re just doing so because they wanted the Kapamilya Network’s franchise to be approved.

Last month, Pokwang, who is now with GMA Network, declared her support for VP Leni and along with it, came the bashing about ABS-CBN’s franchise.

The comedienne has denied the allegations, saying she’s already with the Kapuso Network.

Recently, she posted on Twitter asking everyone to ask themselves why GMA artists like her and other artists from ABS-CBN stand united in supporting VP Leni.

“Bakit kaya ang daming artista ang sumusuporta kay mam @lenirobredo at @kikopangilinan for free? why? mapa GMA at ABS na mga artista? Why?” Pokwang tweeted.

She then said that it’s not about the franchise but about true unity.

“So hindi prangkisa ang issue ng pinaglalaban namin diba? kasi nagkakaisa kmi! totoong UNITY!! why kaya? ikaw natanong moba sa sarili moyan?” the comedienne said in a tweet.

Pokwang is among the most well-loved comediennes in the industry. Her frank and motherly ways are always "patok" among Filipinos. She used to be with ABS-CBN but moved to GMA during the pandemic.

In a previous social media post, Pokwang reiterated that she doesn’t receive any payment from the campaign of VP Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan. The comedienne said that her work and performances in the campaign are free and purely voluntary. She also reminded those who support politicians who pay artists to appear in campaign rallies that they will try getting a return on their investment through the sweat of ordinary workers. Pokwang did not elaborate on what she meant, though her statement might be referring to additional taxes.

She also shared on social media her experience in their house-to-house campaign in Antipolo. The comedienne joined other celebrities and volunteers in talking to people about the Team Leni-Kiko tandem. Pokwang revealed that they did house to house campaign and said that the people accepted them as who they are. The comedienne also revealed that she felt that it is only on social media where people are angry at them but in real life, they are very much accepted.
