Gladys Guevarra took to social media to react to Sharon Cuneta’s comments against senatorial candidate Salvador Panelo.

Cuneta slammed Panelo for singing her hit song “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas” in a campaign event, saying that only politicians under Leni Robredo’s slate can sing that song in campaign events. Panelo responded that he sang that song to honor his late son who had Down Syndrome.

According to Guevarra, she respects Panelo for singing a song to his late son, explaining that she has a child with autism and relatives who also have Down Syndrome.

Furthermore, Guevarra said that she used to idolize Sharon but has now lost her respect for her due to her comments against Panelo. The comedian-singer said that the controversy with Panelo showed Sharon’s true colors.

“Bilang may pinsan at pamangkin akong may Down Syndrome, may pamangkin din ako at may anak akong may Autism . . . Sinasaluduhan at nire-respeto ko si Senator Panelo hindi sa kahit anu pa mang political reasons, Pero sa pagiging Amazing father nya.

“Dati idolo ko si Sharon Cuneta, tuwang tuwa pa ko ng magkaroon ako ng pagkakataong makilala sya ng personal noon sa Eat Bulaga. Nakakapanghinayang lang, at tama naman din yung isang nabasa ko. Sayang yung ilang dekadang binuo mo at pinaka ingatang magandang imahe, sinira mo lang sa iisang nakakaidiring post at negative reaction mo sa ginawang pag awit ni Senator Panelo sa kanta na sinasabi mong dapat ipinaalam sayo.

“I used to have so much respect sayo Mega, bilang mang aawit din ako. Ngayon, malinaw pa sa mineral water na nakita ng lahat ang tunay mong ugali,” Gladys posted on Facebook.

Gladys Guevarra is a comedienne and a voice impersonator. She previously worked at GMA Network. She was also the former lead vocalist of a band called Gladys and the Boxers with K. Their notable hit song was, "Sasakyan Kita."

In a past report by KAMI, Allan K opened up about the closure of two of his comedy bars, Zirkoh and Klownz, where Gladys was among the regular performers. Lolit Solis even shared in an Instagram post that the comedian has fought hard to keep the two bars open amid the pandemic.

Gladys also made headlines when she accused her ex-boyfriend of stealing money from her. According to Gladys, Leon Sumagui left her behind and stole some of her money. The comedienne said that she and Leon got into an argument about her kakanin business and broke off their relationship.
