Ogie Diaz debunked rumors that he and his companions were compensated for hosting the campaign rally of presidential candidate VP Leni Robredo at the Iloilo Sports Complex in Iloilo City.
He indicated that aside from food and t-shirt that he received, they did not receive any payment for their hosting task, nor expected any, for that matter.
The talent manager and showbiz reporter also remarked that the crowd attending the event were not “hakot,” adding that there are no dump trucks outside the complex.
“Wala namang hinakot dito? Oo nga, alam ko ‘yan dahil walang mga dump trucks diyan sa labas,” Ogie said.

“Kaya nandito ho kami ngayon, wala ho kaming bayad. Pinakain lang kami, Binigyan lang kami ng ganito ng t-shirt at siyempre, yung kasiyahan at kaligayahan ng puso namin na mapaglingkuran, at mapakita kay VP Leni Robredo na kaisa niya kami sa lahat ng kanyang naisin,” he added.
Ogie also took note of the presence of drones during the event, saying that these are not prohibited in VP Leni’s campaign rallies.
“Nakakatuwa! Alam mo dito sa Iloilo City hindi bawal ang drone. ‘Di ba? May drone tayo diyan. Hindi bawal ang drone. Dahil kahit saan pumunta ang drone, Diyos ko po,” the talent manager and showbiz reporter said.
He then expressed amazement at the size of the crowd that attended the campaign rally in Iloilo City, taking cognizance of the warm welcome accorded by Iloilo to VP Leni.
“Hindi mahulugang karayom ang mga tao. Ganito kainit ang pagtanggap ng Iloilo kay Presidente Leni Robredo. Nakakaloka!” said Ogie.
Ogie, along with his Showbiz Update co-host, Mama Loi and Dyosa Pockoh, were present at the event.
Ogie Diaz, or Roger Diaz Pandaan in real life, is a Pinoy actor, comedian, entertainment reporter, and talent manager. He was born on January 2, 1970 in Quezon City and was known as “Pekto” in the popular and long-running TV sitcom, “Palibhasa Lalaki.” He is also known as the talent manager of award-winning actress, Liza Soberano, and is also the man behind the YouTube channel, “Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update.” He started his career in showbiz in 1987 as entertainment reporter Cristy Fermin’s assistant at the Mariposa Publications. He later went on to become a successful talent manager.
Ogie, along with Mama Loi and Dyosa Pockoh were also among those who freely gave their time and effort to be among the hosts of the grand rally in Iloilo. He said that there was no hakot issue because he did not see any dump trucks in the area.
