According to the veteran showbiz columnist, the 38-year-old actress and TV host has been receiving criticisms after she hosted the proclamation rally of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan yesterday.
Nanay Cristy then reiterated in her radio program some of the negative remarks she said she heard about Toni, which made the columnist feel pity for the actress.
“Naaawa lang ako kay Toni Gonzaga. Naaawa ako, punung-puno siya ngayon ng bashing, 'di ba? Sobra. May nagsabi pa na, 'Sininanla mo na sa demonyo ang kaluluwa mo. Puro biblical phrases pa naman ang ipino-post mo, pero sumasama ka sa magnanakaw'. 'Yung mga ganu'n. Ang tindi 'no?”
Nanay Cristy also compared the bashings Toni has been receiving to the negative comments addressed to the celebrity supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Mayroon din namang nangba-bash sa mga ka-pink e, kina Rita Avila, kina Agot Isidro at iba pa. Meron din naman pero mas matindi po kay Toni Gonzaga dahit mas matindi rin po ang pagbira at kontrobersiya sa buhay ng kanyang ineendorso.”
The columnist even cited Paul Soriano’s connection to the Marcoses.
“Saka pag-aralan po nating mabuti ang kasaysayan ng pamilya nina Direk Paul na kanunu-nunuan pa po ay mga maka-Marcos na. Alam niyo po, kapag ang pamilya natin talaga ay Marcos-Lopez na panahon pa, hindi na po natin mababali 'yun. 'Yun na yun.”
“Kaya bakit kailangan na si Toni Gonzaga ay sabihan ng masasakit na salita, sobra naman,” Cristy added.

She then shared on her Instagram stories a post with the caption “unbothered” over images of her taken during the proclamation rally and screenshots of her name trending on Twitter.
Furthermore, Toni has officially said her goodbyes to "Pinoy Big Brother" in her latest online post. On Instagram, Toni said that it has been her greatest honor to host PBB for 16 years. She then mentioned that she will be stepping down as the main host and will leave the rest to the other hosts.
