Khalil Ramos found a special way to express his appreciation for Sharon Cuneta after working with the Megastar on the film Honor Thy Mother.

Rather than choosing an ordinary present, the actor decided to give Sharon something that would remind her of her remarkable career in Philippine entertainment. His thoughtful gesture came after he noticed how the veteran actress would revisit memories from her decades in show business while they were working together.
In a social media post, Khalil shared the story behind the gift and explained how he struggled to find something meaningful for a star who has already achieved so much.
“As Honor Thy Mother was coming to an end, I started thinking about what to give Mama Sharon as a wrap gift.

“I remember asking Gabbi, ‘What do you give someone who pretty much has everything already?’ I had such a hard time figuring it out. But Gab told me lets just give her something she would remember.”
Khalil recalled that he eventually found inspiration by observing Sharon on the set. Whenever the cameras were not rolling, he would sometimes see her watching recordings of her old concerts and looking through photographs as she prepared for her upcoming US tour.
Those moments helped him understand what might make a thoughtful present for the actress. According to Khalil, Sharon had described revisiting those memories as her way of gathering strength and confidence.
“During our time on set, whenever the cameras weren’t rolling, I’d sometimes see Mama Sharon watching her old concert videos and looking through old photos as she prepares for her US tour. She told me it was her ‘pampalakas ng loob.’”
The observation prompted Khalil to look for something that would connect Sharon with the different stages of her career. He eventually reached out to Archivo 1984, an organization known for collecting and preserving Philippine film and television memorabilia over several decades.
Fortunately, the collection included several items connected to Sharon’s long career. Khalil was able to put together a gift featuring rare photographs, behind-the-scenes images and original lobby cards from two of her memorable films, Bituing Walang Ningning and Madrasta.
“That’s when I remembered Archivo 1984, who has been collecting and preserving Philippine film and TV memorabilia for decades. I reached out to ask what they had of Sharon Cuneta, and thankfully, they had some really special pieces. Rare photographs, behind-the-scenes moments, some of which have never been seen before, and even original lobby cards from Bituing Walang Ningning and Madrasta.”
The items offered a glimpse into Sharon’s journey through Philippine cinema and television, including moments that had not previously been widely seen. For Khalil, examining the photographs also became an opportunity to appreciate the breadth of her accomplishments.
He said looking through the collection reminded him of how much Sharon had contributed to the entertainment industry and how consistently she continued to give her best as a performer.
“Going through those photographs myself, I couldn’t help but admire just how colorful her career has been. From the 2nd golden age of Philippine cinema to today, she still gives 101% in every scene. And as an actor, it’s such an inspiring reminder to always give my all, no matter how far I get in this industry. And to do it with heart, kindness and grace.”
Khalil’s message showed that the gift was not only an expression of gratitude but also a reflection of the respect he developed for Sharon as a fellow performer. Her dedication to acting, he explained, serves as an example for younger actors who hope to build lasting careers of their own.
He also expressed appreciation for the kindness Sharon showed him during their time working together.
