“A story on GRATITUDE.
“Sharing with you how life is fleeting but the memories kept by written letters like this one keep the love very much alive in our hearts. If there’s anything my Papa was so good at doing was not just expressing himself through words (he was a man of few when it came to speaking ) but in writing, he did so exceptionally well- was to always practice GRATITUDE.
“My Papa was not only grateful for good days, he was grateful for all days even for the most challenging ones for our family.”
Dimples recalled that her father was not particularly talkative, but he had a remarkable ability to communicate his thoughts and feelings through writing. His letter to their relatives demonstrated that quality, especially his willingness to express appreciation during a time of emotional and financial difficulty.
The actress explained that the correspondence was addressed to her father’s cousins in Canada, who had provided assistance with the expenses of Sarah’s leukemia treatment.
“In this letter he reaches out to his cousins from Canada to say Thank You for helping us with my late sister Pebbles/Sarah’s leukemia expenses. (thank you Tito Butch Suarez and Auntie Mayet for keeping this and sharing it with us after many decades) Pebbles/Sarah had cancer of the blood from 1994-1997 til she passed ✝️”
Dimples also acknowledged Tito Butch Suarez and Auntie Mayet for preserving the letter and sharing it with the family many years later. Their decision to keep the document allowed Dimples to revisit her father’s words and reflect on the enduring significance of his message.
Sarah, whom the family also called Pebbles, battled leukemia from 1994 until 1997, when she passed away. The illness was a deeply painful experience for the family, and the letter offers a glimpse into how they navigated that period with the help of relatives.
One of the details Dimples highlighted was the way her father ended his message. Rather than expressing gratitude only for a favorable outcome, Joel acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the situation and conveyed appreciation regardless of what might happen.
“Notice how in the end, my Papa says grace and gratitude for whatever outcome this development would reach, and that he would never ever forget this kindness.
“And never would I ❤️”
For Dimples, her father’s words remain a lasting example of how people can recognize the generosity of others even when life does not unfold as hoped. She also emphasized that the kindness extended to their family was something she would continue to remember.
The actress used the opportunity to share a message for people who make gratitude a daily practice, remain mindful of the help they receive, and continue doing what is right despite life’s difficulties.
“Para sa mga araw araw na nagpapasalamat, kailanman di nakakalimot sa kabutihan ng iba, para sa patuloy na lumalaban ng patas, mabuhay kayo ❤️”
She ended her post by wishing her followers peace for the coming week and expressing hope that the good deeds people carry out quietly would eventually be rewarded.
“May this Sunday bring you peace you need for this coming week and may the heavens reward everything that we do in silence.”

Dimples’ reflection also brought attention to the enduring importance of family memories. Although the letter was written in 1994, its message continues to resonate with her decades later, particularly as she remembers the loved ones she has lost and the relatives who helped her family through a difficult time.
Her father’s death in 2001 added another significant loss to the family’s history. Joel died at the age of 41 due to an aneurysm, but his words and the values he expressed through them remain part of the family’s memories.
