Bayani Agbayani believes that friendships and family relationships should not be broken because of differences in political beliefs. The comedian shared his thoughts on the importance of respecting one another's opinions during his interview on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Monday, September 28.

During the conversation, host Boy Abunda brought up Bayani's previous remarks about people ending friendships and cutting ties with relatives because of their political views. Boy pointed out that the comedian had expressed his confusion over how political differences could lead to such divisions, particularly among those who support different political figures.

In response, Bayani emphasized that people should respect each other's convictions and beliefs, even when they do not share the same opinions. He explained that having different preferences does not mean people cannot get along.

"Opo, dapat kung ano man ang ating paninindigan at paniniwala, igalang ng bawat kapwa. Kasi hindi naman puwedeng kung gusto mo ng chicken, gusto ko rin. Maari namang gusto ko ng steak. Pero pareho tayong kakain nang sabay sa isang kanin. Hindi puwedeng kung ano ang gusto mo, gusto ko," he said.

Bayani also cited his marriage to his wife, Lenlen, as an example of how people can accept their differences. He explained that even couples have distinct beliefs, backgrounds, and upbringings, but these differences do not have to prevent them from maintaining a harmonious relationship.

"Kahit sa pag-aasawa eh. Lahat ng ugali ni Lenlen na kaiba sa akin ay tinatanggap ko. Kasi magkaiba kami ng paninindigan, magkaiba kami ng magulang, magkaiba kami ng kinagisnan, magkaiba kami ng paniniwala although mag-asawa kami," he added.

Boy then asked Bayani whether he had lost friendships with people who disagreed with his political preferences, citing the example of his support for former President Rodrigo Duterte while some of his friends supported former President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Bayani admitted that he had experienced losing several friendships because of political differences. However, he stressed that he continued to respect those people and make an effort to reach out to them, even if they no longer reciprocated.

"Marami po. Pero ako, hindi ako tumitigil sa paggalang at pag-reach out sa kanila. Sila lang 'yung tumitigil," he said.

Despite the unexpected change, the couple still visited the church and the venue where the wedding dinner was supposed to take place before continuing their European trip.

Last year, Bayani urged the government to reinstate the death penalty for corrupt officials, calling on lawmakers to pass a law imposing capital punishment on those who steal public funds. The comedian expressed frustration over politicians who have long been involved in corruption yet continue to show no remorse. He also criticized political dynasties that have maintained their hold on power for decades.
