For Chloe, the victory represented more than another medal for the decorated Filipino gymnast. She described it as the first Asian Games medal of Yulo’s career and reflected on the amount of work, faith and perseverance that went into reaching the podium.

Yulo delivered the breakthrough performance on his specialty apparatus, scoring 14.666 points to secure the men’s floor exercise gold medal. The victory also gave the Philippine delegation its first gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

The gymnast celebrated the accomplishment with his longtime coach Aldrin Castañeda and his younger brother Karl Eldrew Yulo, who has also pursued a career in gymnastics.

Carlos Yulo is a highly accomplished Filipino artistic gymnast whose performances have brought him international recognition.
