During her conversation with Kara David on “i-Listen,” Sassa shared that her mother had already been working as a household helper before she was born.

The content creator grew up in the same house where her mother worked. Because the people there treated her like family, she did not immediately understand their situation.

She eventually noticed that her mother was always cooking and doing other household tasks.

Sassa stressed that being a kasambahay is a decent and honorable job. However, she admitted that she initially found it difficult to talk about her family’s situation at school.

At one point, she even pretended to have a wealthy lifestyle because she lived in a large house. As she grew older, she realized there was nothing to be ashamed of.

“Naintindihan ko rin naman, marangal na trabaho ang pagiging kasambahay,” she said.

Her perspective changed further when she began working and understood how difficult it was to earn money.

That realization made her even prouder of her mother’s story.

“Yung nanay ko, napagtapos niya ako ng college sa pagkakasambahay. Single mom lang siya,” the celebrity shared.

Sassa also recalled how her mother rarely rested or took time off. She witnessed how the hardworking mom continued working to give her the life and opportunities she wanted.

“Hindi ko nakita nanay ko na nagbakasyon. Hindi ko nakita nanay ko na naglakwatsa o nagpahinga. Talagang dire-diretso siya nagtatrabaho,” she said.

Despite their financial struggles, her mother supported her dream of becoming an entertainer.

Sassa had written in her high school yearbook that she wanted to become a professional entertainer. She also asked to study at a school where she believed she could prepare for her chosen career.

Instead of discouraging her, her mother reportedly found ways to pay for her education. She even borrowed money when necessary to cover the tuition.

The content creator admitted that she once questioned why they had so little despite her many dreams. Looking back, she realized that support could be just as valuable as money.

“Maraming tao may pera pero hindi nila natutupad ang pangarap nila kasi walang suporta. At ako, kahit hindi kami mayaman, meron akong suporta,” she reflected.
