Niño Muhlach is facing a 90-day suspension of his driver’s license following a road accident in Antipolo City that damaged several establishments and left one person injured.

According to Philstar.com, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) imposed the said suspension as part of its ongoing investigation into the incident. The agency also issued a show cause order (SCO) directing Muhlach to explain his side regarding the accident. It also placed an alarm on the vehicle involved in the collision, which means transactions involving the vehicle are currently prohibited while the investigation continues.
Muhlach previously addressed the incident through a statement posted on his social media accounts, where he acknowledged that he fell asleep while driving. He attributed the incident to exhaustion from his demanding schedule but admitted that fatigue did not excuse what happened.
Explaining what led to the collision, Muhlach said:

"Due to an extremely demanding and exhausting schedule, I fell asleep behind the wheel. Because the incident occurred on a Sunday, my regular driver was on day off. While fatigue overtook me, that is not an excuse. Falling asleep at the wheel led directly to hitting a pedestrian and damaging nearby establishments."
He also expressed remorse to those affected by the accident and said he was cooperating with authorities as the matter was being investigated.
"I am deeply sorry to the victim, their family, and everyone affected by my negligence. I am fully cooperating with authorities as this matter is being resolved," he added.
Coming from a prominent showbiz family, Niño Muhlach rose to fame as one of the Philippines’ most celebrated child stars during the 1970s and 1980s. He later ventured into business and now manages the popular Megamelt Bakeshop, known for its signature pastries.
Over the weekend, the veteran star drew significant media attention following a vehicular accident along the Marcos Highway area in Antipolo. Fatigue was cited as a possible factor, with the actor acknowledging that he fell asleep behind the wheel and lost control of his sport utility vehicle. The vehicle veered off the road and caused extensive damage to a nearby food stall, a parked motorcycle, and several commercial establishments. Taking responsibility for the incident, Muhlach also spoke with some of the affected business owners at the scene to address the immediate aftermath.
He then broke his silence on the road accident, taking responsibility for the incident and acknowledging the impact it had on those affected. Muhlach also offered to cover the injured person’s medical expenses and shoulder the costs of repairing the properties damaged in the collision.
