In an Instagram update, Yasmine shared that Cristiano represented the Ateneo Grade School Boys swimming team at the Milo National Interschool Short Course Swimming Championship 2026.
The team emerged as four-peat champions. Cristiano also finished third in all his strokes out of 37 children.
His performance became more meaningful because it was his first competition as part of the Ateneo varsity team. The young swimmer had also been treated in the emergency room the night before the meet.

Yasmine revealed that her son suffered from persistent vomiting and needed medical attention.
“The night before the meet, at 9 PM, he was still in the ER getting hydrated and receiving IV medication because of persistent vomiting,” she wrote.
The doctors conducted tests before deciding whether Cristiano was well enough to take part in the competition.
“Thankfully, his labs were okay, and after being assessed, he got the go signal from his doctor,” the proud mom explained.
Although he had medical clearance, his parents still encouraged him to rest. Cristiano, however, was determined to attend his first competition with the varsity team.
According to Yasmine, he did not want to disappoint his teammates. He chose to compete and managed to deliver a strong performance despite the difficult night.
“We told him to rest, but he didn't want to miss his first competition as part of the Ateneo Varsity, or let down his teammates,” she shared.
She added, “Despite everything, he placed 3rd in all his strokes out of 37 kids.”
The result left Yasmine proud not only of the medals but also of the attitude her son showed.
“So proud of your determination, Cristiano!” she told him.
The celebrity mom also recognized how her son pushed through the challenge for the people around him.
“You showed up, gave it your all, and refused to give up, not just for yourself, but for your team,” she added.
She ended her message by congratulating the Ateneo Grade School Boys for becoming four-peat champions.
Cristiano’s sports achievement came shortly after another proud moment at school. In a separate Instagram post, Yasmine said he received the “Pinakamagandang Kasuotan” award during Ateneo Grade School’s Buwan ng Wika celebration.

Earlier, Alfred Vargas broke his silence once again after he and his wife, Yasmine Espiritu-Vargas, formally sought the reconsideration of the Manila Prosecutor’s Office decision that dismissed their criminal complaint against Rob Sy and his partner, Juvelle Bacosa.
Previously, Yasmine shared heartfelt photos from the Catholic baptism of her friend Daniel’s son, where she served as one of the child’s godparents. She also opened up about going through a difficult period marked by feelings of hopelessness, prompting her to pray earnestly for God’s guidance and protection over their family. According to Yasmine, those prayers were eventually answered as old friends unexpectedly reentered their lives while certain individuals naturally drifted away.
