Jeric shared the story during his previous guest appearance on the YouTube show “Kay Susan Tayo! Vlogs,” hosted by Susan Enriquez. According to the veteran actor, many people assumed that because he portrayed action heroes on screen, he could do the same things in real life.
Explaining why he sometimes found himself in confrontations, Jeric said many people believed his movie roles reflected his actual abilities.
“Siyempre, ‘pag action star ka, akala nila talagang top guy ka, magaling ka. 'Yung ginagawa mo sa pelikula, kaya mo gawin sa tunay na buhay. Hindi nila naiintindihan pelikula lang ‘yan, image lang ‘yan.”

He added that there were people who deliberately wanted to test him because of his on-screen image.
“Gusto kang subukan at that time.”
Jeric then recalled one specific incident that happened at a bar near Sgt. Esguerra, saying the altercation stemmed from drinking.
“There was a time may bar dito sa malapit sa Sgt. Esguerra. Napaaway ko doon. Away-lasing lang.”
He also remembered what another customer allegedly said about him during the incident.
“‘Pabayaan niyo ‘yan. Wala naman ‘yan. Gugulpihin ko lang 'yan eh.’”
The actor admitted that alcohol affected the way he viewed himself during that period of his life. Looking back on those years, he jokingly said that whenever he drank, he felt like Hollywood action star Steven Seagal.
“Eh, nu'ng araw kasi, 'pag nakainom ako, feeling ko, dalawa ang pakiramdam ko nu'ng araw ha? I'm talking of 1997. Noong araw, hindi na po ito ngayon, pakiramdam ko ako si Steven Seagal. Pakiramdam ko, guwapo ako.”
Jeric also admitted that because of that mindset, he would engage in arguments and fights that were not worth his time. However, he emphasized that those incidents happened years ago and should not be imitated by others.
“Pinagpapapatulan ko 'yung mga walang kuwentang away, walang kuwentang usapin. Siyempre hindi man tayo magpapauna. Isang malaking kahihiyan. Alam mo, 'pag action star ka at [kapag] nagulpi ka, laos ka agad-agad.”
