Veteran actor Jeric Raval welcomed viewers into his home during his guest appearance on "Kay Susan Tayo! Vlogs," hosted by veteran broadcaster Susan Enriquez.

While giving Susan a tour of his house, Jeric shared that he keeps his Christmas decorations on display all year round. The festive setup led Susan to ask why the actor chooses to maintain the spirit of Christmas every day of the year.

Jeric explained that the tradition stems from his childhood and the lasting memories he has of celebrating the holidays despite growing up with financial struggles.

Before elaborating, Jeric looked back on his upbringing and how his family's circumstances shaped his appreciation for Christmas.

“Kasi, Susan, lumaki ako sa hirap. Ang nanay ko at saka tatay ko hiwalay na eh. Si nanay, siyempre, teacher ang nanay ko, hindi naman kalakihan ang suweldo ng teacher noong araw.”

He said Christmas and New Year were the occasions that brought him the greatest happiness as a child, which is why he continues to treasure those celebrations today.

“Pangalawa, ‘pag Pasko nakakaramdaman ako ng saya noon. Saka, ‘pag New Year, ang saya. Gusto ko ‘pag New Year kompleto kami. Lahat kami.”

Jeric also shared that although his children may celebrate Christmas wherever they choose, he always asks them to come together at his home to welcome the New Year as one family.

“Halimbawa siya, ‘Saan mo gusto mag-Pasko?’ Sige, gusto kong mag-Pasko doon.’ ‘Pero New Year dito kayo lahat.’ Kaya dito ang dami namin ‘pag New Year.”

For Jeric, keeping Christmas decorations around the house is more than a decorating choice. It serves as a reminder of the joy he experienced during the holidays while growing up and reflects the importance he places on spending meaningful moments with his loved ones.

Jeric Raval is a veteran Filipino actor who established himself as one of Philippine cinema's iconic action stars during the 1990s. After making his feature film debut in "Primitivo 'Ebok' Ala" (1992), he went on to build a multi-decade career starring in numerous action movies, indie films, and mainstream television series.

In the same interview, Jeric admitted that raising his 18 children with seven different women has been one of the biggest challenges of his life. He also said that he does not encourage others to follow the same path because of the sacrifices and responsibilities that come with it.

During his interview with Aster Amoyo, Jeric recalled the time he unintentionally confirmed that his daughter AJ Raval has children with Aljur Abrenica during a press conference. The veteran action star explained that he thought he was having a private conversation with a staff member while eating and waiting at the venue. Aster also asked Jeric if AJ was upset with him following the incident. Jeric shared that in the age of smartphones, it has become difficult to keep personal matters away from public attention for long.
