Maegan Aguilar opened up about how veteran singer Kuh Ledesma played a crucial role in helping her begin her journey to recovery from drug addiction.

During her guest appearance on "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" on Friday, July 24, Maegan looked back on the time when Kuh stepped in to help her at one of the lowest points in her life.

Maegan admitted she was surprised that it was Kuh who reached out to her after many years.

"Yeah. And I couldn't believe it was Kuh, kasi we became best friends twenty-something years ago when I first became a born-again Christian. She remembered that friendship and decided, 'Okay, I'll help her out. No one's there for her.' And she did. That's how I got into rehab [the first time] - because of Kuh."

She then shared that entering rehabilitation initially gave her a sense of relief because it removed her from the difficult situation she had been experiencing while living on the streets.

"So parang ini-enjoy ko lang na, at least, I wasn't hungry anymore on the streets. At least, I wasn't on the verge of s*icide anymore. And at least, I wasn't alone. I was feeding my mind with God's Word, and Kuh was there with her daughter Isabela. They were a great team, trying to help me."

Maegan also candidly acknowledged that helping her through recovery was not easy for Kuh and her daughter because of her own attitude at the time.

"But in all honesty, nahirapan silang dalawa with me. It wasn't easy for them because I was still entitled and hard-headed. They were giving me their hand, but I wanted their arm. I wanted their head."

Despite the challenges they faced, Maegan said Kuh's deep Christian faith allowed her to remain patient and understanding throughout the process.

"Pero because Kuh has been a Christian for longer than I am, ang lawak ng pag-intindi niya eh, ang lawak ng pang-unawa niya. So even in the end, kahit nagkaroon kami ng misunderstanding, hindi nagtagal, nagbati rin kami and then parang hinayaan niya muna ako to figure it out."

Freddie Aguilar was an iconic Filipino folk singer, composer, and patriotic figure in the Philippine music industry. He was best known for his hit song "Anak," which was translated into more than 20 languages and sold over 33 million copies worldwide. His rendition of "Bayan Ko" also became a symbol of protest during the People Power Revolution.

In the same interview, Maegan looked back on the emotional reconciliation she shared with her late father, Freddie, before his passing. She also revealed why she was absent from his funeral.
